Among their products, the Schäbisch Hällisches high quality pork, boeuf de Hohenlohe and Hohenloher goose landrace are widely known. In addition the union also conducts a variety of Public-Private-Partnership Projects, including partners in India, the Ukraine, Serbia, and Romania. A 50 km drive to Schwäbisch Gmünd will bring us to the Weleda company, a large manufacturer of natural cosmetics. Plants for cosmetic production, as well as for anthroposophic medicines, are grown both outdoors and in greenhouses. The medicinal plants are either processed when fresh, dried on site or dry when purchased. The production of plant extracts will begin in January 2007. The excursion will include a tour of the greenhouses, cultivated fields and, if time allows, the processing plant. In addition, Weleda will conduct a presentation on their international projects.

Close to the university lies Kleinhohenheim, the university’s research station (60 ha) for organic farming. After a tour of the station, there will be a presentation on current research projects.
